Bali, 14-15 November 2019, CORECT – FFMS Universitas Brawijaya, CReSOS – Udayana University and Chiba University, held International Conference which focussed on climate change and sustainable environmental management to reduce global threats. This conference consists of three annual symposium, includes The Indonesian Japan Joint Scientific Symposium (IJJSS) 2019, 2th CORECT symposium – Brawijaya University and CEReS International Symposium – Chiba University.

The collaboration between Indonesian universities and Japan universities and sister universities are growing up. This collaboration creates academic and research collaboration among Indonesia universities and Japan universities in many areas.

IJJSS 2019 is the 9th symposium organized by FFMS UB and CReSOS UNUD. IJJSS is one of the collaborative implementations between Chiba University and FFMS UB and FKIP UNUD.

In this activity, Prof. Hiraoki Kuze as Director of Chiba University explained that the shifting of seasons, drought and floods has greatly affected the agriculture and maritime sectors. Various technological and multidisciplinary scientific  approaches are needed to find new breakthroughs to create a better life. Meanwhile, Prof. Josaphat Tetuko Sri Sumantyo, Head of Chiba University’s ) Josaphat  Remote Sensing Laboratory (JMRSL) explained about the development of a CP-SAR (Circularly Polarized-Synthetic Aperture Radar) system conducted by the JMRSL laboratory as a new breakthrough in remote sensing systems for environmental monitoring and disaster management. This technology is being developed by Prof. Josaphat and the JMRSL team at Chiba University, Japan.

This activity was attended by 200 researchers and academics from 13 countries. A total of 6 keynote speakers and 10 invited speakers were presented at this activity. Through the conference, it is expected to maintain strong relationships and collaborations between Universitas Brawijaya, Udayana University, and Chiba University both now and in the future.
